I met Daniel and Ruthie less than three months ago. We got together in March to chat about their wedding. Then in April, I drove out to Baker City again to spend some more time with Daniel and Ruthie about a month before their wedding. Although they’d been planning their wedding for over a year, they were still looking for just the right photographer. They had already taken engagement photos before (twice, in fact!), but we went ahead with these anyway because 1) I include an engagement session with all my weddings, 2) It helps us get to know each other so that on their wedding day, it feels more like they’re working with an old friend than a stranger, and 3) Why not?! Daniel’s children joined us toward the end for pictures of the whole family with the beautiful, snow-capped mountains in the background! It rained a little toward the beginning of the session (foreshadowing…?), but it soon passed and we thankfully didn’t need to use the umbrellas at all.
These mountains, oh my goodness, I was in photographer heaven! I think I did some sort of giddy dance [sheepish grin].
Ruthie’s ring is so unique! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a heart-shaped diamond in person until now!
I was a surprised when I was heard–multiple times, in fact–at their wedding rehearsal that this photo above captured this little boy’s personality so well. I generally prefer that you forget there was a photographer there at all, so I almost deleted this shot of him pointing at my camera. However, pointing is kind of his thing, I was told, so I’m glad I kept it after all!
Full disclosure: I actually forgot to take these pictures of Ruthie’s engagement ring on this day. So on their wedding day, I found some suitable locations for the engagement ring by itself, so that Daniel and Ruthie could include these shots with their engagement pictures if they choose. I’m still kicking myself for forgetting, because I love ring shots! Oh well, that’s life I guess 😛
