You know how we all like to joke with our trip-bound friends that we could fit in an extra suitcase and that they should bring us along? Well that actually worked once for Erin! Her friend was headed to Hawaii for a conference and Erin offered to carry her luggage for her. Only joking, of course. To her complete surprise, Erin’s friend offered to share her room with Erin and let her tag along! I guess it never hurts to ask, right?! Win! Well, except that Kyle stayed home. Sorry, Kyle.
Kyle and I have known each other since sophomore year of college, when I transferred to NNU. We were classmates in many art and graphic design courses. I don’t remember exactly when I met Erin, but I got to know her a lot better when we were roommates over the summer after I graduated.
It’s been eight and a half years since I photographed Kyle and Erin’s wedding at the Bishop’s House in Boise. Earlier this month, we revisited the Bishop’s House, as well as the Idaho Botanical Gardens, for some new portraits! There weren’t many plants in bloom yet, but there were a handful of trees flowering! The magnolia is one of my personal favorites.
After closing time, we wandered over to the barns that are behind the gardens and the Old Idaho State Penitentiary. I was surprised to find so many other people out taking portraits! There had only been maybe two other people in the botanical garden, but the barns were the place to be! We made our way to the very spot where Kyle and Erin had exchanged their vows not so long ago, right outside the gazebo (scroll down to see a couple shots from their wedding!). There also happened to be a magnolia tree out front. Hooray!
Somewhere in those trees is a little bunny. He scampered away just as we walked out onto the bridge.
Did you know there’s a koi pond at the botanical garden? I didn’t either!
This is it! The Bishop’s House! There was a family taking photos out front, but were were happy head around back toward the gazebo.
Here’s a quick flashback to September 2008!
