In early-November, I met Aubrey at Kathryn Albertson Park to photograph her college graduation portraits. Since she completed her degree from Nightingale College online and wouldn’t be participating in commencement, this was her graduation. These would be her only photos. Whoa! I was humbled to be given such an honor. As we explored the park, Aubrey told me a little bit of her story and what she’s gone through to get to this point. I won’t tell the story for her, but I will say that I’m impressed by her tenacity and perseverance, and I’m so thankful to hear of what God has brought her through. One of my roommates at NNU was a nursing major so I know it’s no walk in the park. But Aubrey took part in an accelerated program to obtain her RN in even less than four years. That’s just crazy.
Originally we were planning this session for the middle of November, but both of us were a little nervous that we’d miss the fall colors. Thankfully, Aubrey received her cap, gown, and stole earlier than expected. The day started off looking like it might rain. On my way out to Boise, the clouds parted and the sun came out. It was glorious! Just as we were taking our last photos in front of the red trees in the parking lot, the clouds rolled in, the wind picked up, and it began to sprinkle. We made it just in time!
Aubrey, I’m so happy for you! I hope you’re able to fish as often as you want now that you’ve graduated! Wahoo!

By the way, I LOVED Aubrey’s red shoes! Albertson Park can be a bit of a walk to get to some of the more iconic spots, but she was undeterred.

That’s quite possibly the best cap decoration I’ve ever seen! So fitting.

I know these types of images aren’t everyone’s favorite, but I always try to take a few with my subject on one of the third lines because you can place text over the empty half of the image. It makes a great graduation announcement, or a photo album cover.

This is the walk here:

A for Aubrey! It’s Albertson Park, we practically had to! 😄
