Welcome to a special wedding What to Wear! These examples were created for a bride and groom who didn’t want to choose specific wedding colors, but instead opted for a broad palette from which their family members could mix and match. If we were to stand both extended families all together in a line, here’s what they might look like:
We started with sage green and brown as our base colors. The couple liked the look of those together. Nothing too overpowering. Next, we added in some other shades of green and brown to give some variety. Finally, we landed on a robin’s egg blue and dusty pink color for accent colors…and because it’s way more fun to wear something colorful when you’re a bridesmaid, right? However, as I was selecting clothing photos from all over the internet (mainly Old Navy, Target, Kohl’s, Men’s Wearhouse, JCPenney, Macy’s, and Maurices), it narrowed down to six main colors. I just grouped the lighter green in with “sage” since I couldn’t think of what else to call it and I was too tired to look up how to spell chartreuse. Besides, we’re trying to make these things easy for those of us who haven’t memorized the color thesaurus, so sage it is!
These folks are the family pictured left of the groom and bride in the first photo. It doesn’t really matter which family is which, I just separated them to be helpful. Here’s how they might look in their own family photo.
And Family 2 are the people who were originally to the right of the bride and groom. Again, I’ve rearranged them to show how they might look in their own family photo.
Here we have the wedding party. Given that there are only four of them, it’s not necessary to incorporate EVERY color from the scheme.
You may notice I didn’t include accessories and shoes, like the previous What to Wear. Sorry. Thirty-two people is kind of a lot. However, I would be happy to help if you’d like suggestions for a certain outfit or want to know where the pieces came from. Feel free to email me (photo@robinwheeler.net), text me (208-615-5310), or leave a comment below with the outfit number.
