State Capitol + Park Engagement | Logan & Elizabeth

This spring engagement session at the Idaho State Capitol and Kathryn Albertson Park will definitely go down as one of the more adventurous afternoons I’ve had with a couple!

Logan and Elizabeth have been together since high school, and their easy-going, lighthearted connection made them so fun to photograph—even when the weather and location threw us a few curveballs. I’ve known Logan and his family through our church for years (shout out to a former Bible quizzer!), and it was such a joy to finally meet Elizabeth in person. She’s quiet and kind, and she and Logan together have a calm, steady way about them that made the whole day feel sweet, even when things didn’t go quite as planned.

We started our engagement session at the state Capitol (with lots of unexpected tourists and even a spontaneous wedding in the middle of our shoot!). Once the sun came out, we drove over to Kathryn Albertson Park. Spring was just beginning to show up in the form of a few blooming trees, and we took advantage of every bit of color we could find. Eventually the clouds rolled back in and it started to sprinkle. These two were so patient and flexible through all of it—especially when I climbed INTO a forsythia bush at the end!

One of my favorite moments was just after we arrived at Albertson Park. You know how there are those big stones by the entrance that spell out ALBERTSON? Well, on the drive over, I realized that not only are there L and E stones, there’s only one stone in between! So I placed Logan and Elizabeth together to block the B, with Logan on the left next to the L and Elizabeth on the right next to the E. I just thought it would be something fun and different. Then they told me they’d both taken graduation photos in the exact same spot! I didn’t know that when I posed them, of course, but that made it extra meaningful.

I’m so grateful I got to spend this time with you, Logan and Elizabeth, and I can’t wait to celebrate with you again soon!
